How It All Began

The journey of Ek Umeed Day Care Trust began with the passion and dedication of Dr. Meera Shah, who devoted her career to supporting children with special needs. She worked with hearing-impaired children for 14 years, gaining extensive experience in understanding and nurturing each child’s unique potential.

Later, she served as a Speech Therapist at DCCW, where she continued helping children improve their communication and developmental skills. During the COVID-19 lockdown, Dr. Meera started providing therapy through home sessions so that children could continue receiving the support they needed. However, due to limited space and resources, she realized she could not reach as many children and families as she wanted.

Driven by her vision to make quality therapy, education, and care accessible to more children, Dr. Meera Shah founded Ek Umeed Day Care Trust, which officially began its journey on 1 January 2026. Her goal was to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing space where every child could learn, grow, build confidence, and achieve greater independence.

Today, Ek Umeed continues to carry forward this vision by empowering children with special needs and supporting their families with compassion, expertise, and hope.
